Given the ever-changing pandemic situation and its preventive measures, it is sometimes difficult to keep up with developments on this topic. Therefore, we present a set of information based on the most recent updates.
The Azores as a safe destination in 2022
Since the start of the pandemic outbreak in early 2020, the Azores has stood out as a safe destination to travel to. Since then, it has maintained this performance, earning it the classification again in 2022, by the Best European Destinations.
This distinction was due to the strict and highly controlled measures that were in place at the time (2020/2021). However, due to the increased vaccination rate and the reduction in the number of cases, many restrictions have been lifted.
How to travel to the Azores under COVID-19
So, to date (July 13, 2022), all passengers traveling to the Azores have no public health control measures on entry. This applies whether you have a COVID-19 vaccination or recovery certificate, COVID-19 test certificate, or even if you have no EU COVID-19 digital certificate.
In other words, no public health control measures are required for either EU COVID-19 digital certificate holders for vaccination, recovery, and testing, or non-EU COVID-19 digital certificate holders.
Remember, however, to wear a mask in public passenger transport, such as cab, bus or air transport, as well as to respect physical distance and respiratory etiquette.
