As we know, the pandemic situation of 2020, which lasted for 2 years, has weakened all these important areas in the sector. Accommodation, for example, saw a huge decrease in its numbers, having registered more than 3 million overnight stays in 2019 and about 860,000 in 2020, according to the SREA.
Fortunately this decline is not here to stay, as the number of overnight stays recorded until June this year already exceeds the entire year 2020, almost reaching the total of 2021. To date, 2022 already accounts for about 1.2 million, surpassing the record numbers of 2019 on a monthly basis.
The continuous lifting of restrictions under COVID-19 is easing these important tourism industries. As a result, tourist destinations are increasingly offering transportation, lodging, dining, and entertainment.
