2022 marks the return of one of the biggest celebrations of the municipality of Ribeira Grande, the Feira Quinhentista (fifteenth century fair).
The Feira Quinhentista brings to life medieval traces of the experiences of ancient times of the kingdom of Portugal. During this period the streets of the Historical Center of the city are decorated according to the period, bringing to life the festive medieval environment. In these streets, people walk around, dressed in clothes of the time, to the sound of music that brings the whole scenario to life.
After the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 editions, this festival returns and will last for 5 days, starting on July 13 and ending on the 17th of the same month. Being the 11th edition of the event, the Feira Quinhentista (fifteenth century fair) has quickly become one of the biggest and most celebrated traditions of the municipality. This edition will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the birth of one of the most important figures of the Azores, Gaspar Frutuoso.
The event will feature about 20 market spaces, handicrafts and 9 food areas
