Festas da Madalena 2023

The 2023 edition of the Madalena Festivities will take place between July 19 and 23. This year, an attempt will be made to break the record for the World’s Largest Chamarrita Wheel. Check the program and find out what day it will happen:

• July 19:

  • 17h00 – Paprika Beach Volleyball (Campo da Areia Funda);

  • 20h00 to 00h00 – Esposições (Paços do Concelho);

  • 20h00 to 00h00 – Book Fair (Paços do Concelho);

  • 00h00 – DJ Rick Nunes (Main Stage).

• July 20:

  • 17h00 – Paprika Beach Volleyball (Campo da Areia Funda);

  • 21h00 to 00h00 – Children’s Space;

  • 21h30 – Opening concert of the Eco-Kiosk with the Batikes (Village Center);

  • 00h00 – Legendary Animals (Secondary Stage);

  • 01h30 – Karetus (Main Stage);

• July 21:

  • 14h00 to 18h00 – Games Without Borders;

  • 17h00 – 5-a-side soccer tournament (Madalena Municipal field);

  • 18h30 – Reception of the images of the patron saints;

  • 19h30 – Closing Eucharist of the novenary;

  • 20h30 – Presentation of the book “Pé de Carvão e Poemas na Palma da Mão” (Atrium of the Town Hall);

  • 21h00 to 00h00 – Children’s Space.

  • 21h30 to 00h00 – Pico Island Wine Fair (Avenida Machado Serpa);

  • 21h30 to 00h00 – Eco-Kiosk with the Batukes (Village Center);

  • 23h00 – Capitão Mor (Secondary Stage);

  • 00h00 – Nuno Ribeiro (Main Stage).

• July 22nd:

  • 9 a.m. – NaturFactor Trail (Vila da Madalena);

  • 10:30 a.m. – Eucharist with celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism;

  • 12 p.m. – Annual blessing of vehicles and greeting to the patron saint;

  • 4 p.m. – Parade of philharmonics and greeting to the patron saint;

  • 5 p.m. – Solemn Eucharist of St. Mary Magdalene;

  • 7 p.m. – Procession;

  • 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.- Children’s Space;

  • 9:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. – Pico Island Wine Fair (Avenida Machado Serpa);

  • 9:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.- Eco-Kiosk with the Batukes (Village Center);

  • 12 a.m. – Revenge of the 90’s with Olavo Bilac and Fernando Correia Marques (Main Stage).

• July 23rd:

  • 12 p.m. – Sunday Eucharist;

  • 3 p.m. – Off-road Trial Race (Terrain behind the headquarters of the Filarmónica Progresso Madalense);

  • 6 p.m. – World’s Largest Chamarrita Wheel – Guinness World Records (Madalena Municipal Stadium);

  • 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.- Children’s Space;

  • 9:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. – Pico Island Wine Fair (Avenida Machado Serpa);

  • 12 a.m. – Sem Limite (Secondary Stage)
