Gorreana Tea able to fight dementia

12 August, 2020AzoresAzores Guide

It was recently discovered in green tea from the Azores, through research conducted by specialist José Batista, a substance that improves cognitive functions, that fights dementias such as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s and also increases creativity.
Green tea, from the Camellia Sinensis family, has relaxing and very beneficial properties for health. The Gorreana Factory, will produce a new type of tea that alleviates these dementias, which increase with age and also reduce the risks of their negative effects.

This conclusion comes after collecting several teas from all over the world, thus achieving, José Batista, after studying dozens of teas from China, Japan and Thailand and after 10 years of study on this plant, to affirm that the tea from the Azores is superior to other teas in polyphenol content.

These polyphenols are chemical substances that are present in vegetables and fruits, and are supported by various scientific studies as being very beneficial for humans and therefore should be included in people’s daily diet.

“According to the scientific community, foods that are rich in polyphenols have several important actions in the body, being antioxidants, helping to give more energy.”

José Batista, besides coming to the conclusion that the tea from the Azores is richer, now wants to create conditions for the exploitation of this potentiality of green tea, giving a main highlight to the fact that, after ingesting the amino acid, half an hour later, it reaches the brain and stimulates the neurotransmitters with acicoline, which fights Alzheimer and Parkinson.

This tea was introduced to the Azores in the 19th century from Brazil, and the Azores are the only region in Europe that produces this culture, through the two factories: Gorreana Tea and Porto Formoso, from the municipality of Ribeira Grande, on the island of São Miguel.

This project will be a candidate for Prorural +, by the Gorreana Tea Factory.
