The Flower Festival has quickly become an important reference point in the cultural program of events in Ribeira Grande, São Miguel.
This event celebrates the arrival of spring and brings together all the parishes in its high point, the Flower Festival Parade, a parade of floats, which will be attended by more than 1,000 participants, up from 600 last year.
This year, the festival will take place between May 5th and 7th, and adopts the theme of “Sustainability”.
Throughout these days you can expect shows, performances and concerts, as well as the main points of the festival, the Carpet of Flowers, the Flower Festival Parade, and the flower and plant market.
The program will take place as follows:
May 5 – Friday
6:30 p.m. – Inauguration of the Carpet of Flowers;
7:00 p.m. – Inauguration of the collective painting exhibition “Pintores de Mil Flores (Painters of a Thousand Flowers);
8:30 p.m. – XXII Azorean Sports Gala.
May 6 – Saturday:
2:00 p.m. – Show “The Sea is Round like the Moon”;
3:00 p.m. – Performance of the Musical Education group and students from EBI – Rabo de Peixe;
4:30 p.m. – Performance of Move Dance Crew;
5:00 p.m. – Flower Festival Parade;
7:30 p.m. – Performance of Folklore groups from Nossa Senhora da Graça and Santa Bárbara;
9:00 p.m. – ALQUIMIA Concert.
May 7 – Sunday:
2:00 p.m. – Children’s Afternoon (Bouncers, Disney figures and games);
5:00 p.m. – Mass followed by the Procession of the Santo Cristo dos Terceiros;
5:30 p.m. – Performance “The Farmer” – TICOSI;
8:30 p.m. – Concert by Orquestra Ligeira da Ribeira Grande.
