In the Azores, inter-island round trips travel now cost only 60€. It is called ‘Tarifa Açores’ and became available on 1 June 2021.
Passengers with fiscal residence in the Azores archipelago may enjoy this fare. It is a new measure made available by the regional airline (SATA Air Açores) and it appears as a new subsidy for passengers travelling Inter-island.
For the adult passenger, the return trip to any of the 9 islands of the Azores has a maximum cost of 60€. Accompanied children and infants (with a seat on the plane) have a 45% discount on the Azores Fare. Accompanied infants (not entitled to a seat on the plane) have an 80% discount on the Azores Fare.
All citizens whose tax domicile is in the Autonomous Region of the Azores are eligible to benefit from ‘Tarifa Açores’. Bookings can be made to any of the nine islands, taking advantage of the ‘Tarifa Açores’ at any Azores Fare Shop, sales counter, through the SATA Azores Airlines Contact Centre and through your travel agent.
All you need to book is a citizen card (or identity card, passport or birth certificate for children) and proof of tax domicile. Reservations and ticketing were available from 29 May 2021 and journeys started on 1 June 2021.
Changes in travel dates and itineraries incur an extra charge of 15€. There is no possibility of combining ‘Tarifa Açores’ with other existing fares on the same ticket. Passengers who have already purchased a ticket with the normal resident fare for travel between the islands of the Azores and who have not yet started their journey may request a refund of the fare differential for the Tarifa Açores.
