Emanuel Casado – Honey and Traditional Sweets

Address:
Rua das Águas Quentes 36, São Miguel 9675-040 Furnas
Description:

Emanuel Casado started his beekeeping business in 1990 and now explores the almost forgotten traditional sweets, giving them their due value.

With sweets highly rooted in the tradition of the island, the recipes have been passed down from grandparents and neighbors, in this case the traditional caramels of grandmother Belmira from Ribeira Quente, the traditional sweets of Mr. António Madeira from Furnas, in the 60s of the last century, the roasted corn with sugar of Mrs. Fátima Vertentes to send to the United States, at the request of those who were there and the thick porridge of Mrs. Maria dos Anjos Borges and which was the dinner or lunch of many people in the old days.

Emanuel Casado has also innovated with products such as honey cheesecakes, honey pudding and organic tamarillo jam.

The collection of almost forgotten recipes from the Azorean confectionery industry continues, helping to promote the gastronomic value of the Azores!
