The creation of the Wine Museum in the town of Madalena should be understood as a historical inevitability. The organization of a museum on the theme of the vineyard is identified with the main economic activity carried out by the community that occupied this territory since its settlement. In Madalena there are, in fact, several favorable conditions to build a museum of memories and agricultural technologies associated with wine, either by the extent and expression of the vineyards that dominate the landscape, or by the existence of a space that, for centuries, was dedicated to the manufacture of wine: the agricultural facilities that belonged to the Convent of Carmo - magnificent property of the XVII-XVIII centuries, mansion of the Carmo Convent. This magnificent building dates back to the 17th-18th centuries and was the summer residence of the Carmelite friars based in the city of Horta.
