With a diameter of 2.3km and a depth of 300 meters, Caldeirão is the crater of the volcano that originated the island. Inside, there are two lagoons divided by small islands that divide it, and its configuration is often compared to the Azores archipelago. You can appreciate the natural beauty of the place from Monte Gordo, which has a fantastic panoramic view over the whole Caldeirão
To get to know the crater better, you can take a more adventurous approach and follow the Caldeirão Trail (PRC02 COR). It starts near the viewpoint, goes inside the caldera, goes around it, passes by Poço da Velha and ends where it started.
Estreitinho
On the South crest of the volcano is Estreitinho, the highest point on the island of Corvo, measuring about 720 meters in altitude. From here you can get a view over the entire crater.
Diving and Sport Fishing
Corvo is an island with a seabed rich in underwater life, making it a wonderful place for diving. We recommend you to do it in Gamela, which is a cave where some typical species of our archipelago live. You can also do it in Baixa do Buraco and in Caneiro dos Meros.
